Thank you Coach Ed!
After 49 successful seasons as Head Coach of Packanack Swim, Ed Gurka has announced his retirement.
It is difficult to fully capture what Ed has meant to this team, this lake, and generations of Packanack swimmers and families. His legacy is truly historic. For nearly five decades, Ed helped shape Packanack Swim into the program and community it is today — teaching swimmers, building teams, creating memories, and leaving an impact that will be felt for many years to come. We want to congratulate Ed on an extraordinary career and thank him for everything he has given to Packanack Swim.
Home of the Packanack Pirates
The Packanack Lake Swim Club was originally formed in 1948 and the first swim meet was held on July 30, 1949. It was the only US swim club to enter a US-Canada Meet in 1956. Many of the team’s medals and trophies can still be viewed today in the Trophy Room.
Our goal then, as it is today, is to instill a life-long love of swimming at Packanack Lake, where every swimmer has the opportunity to achieve their potential and compete at the highest level. The program is designed to teach each child a solid foundation of swimming fundamentals in a professional instructional environment.
