Jarrett brings a strong swimming and coaching background to our team. He began swimming for Cougar Aquatic Team (CAT) when he was seven years old and continued competing through college, where he swam for Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Jarrett’s coaching career began during his junior year of college, when he returned to coach with CAT — a role he continues today. In September 2025, he also joined Montclair State University as an assistant coach.
We are excited to welcome Jarrett to Packanack and believe his experience as both a swimmer and coach will be a great fit for our team, our swimmers, and our community. Please join us in welcoming Coach Jarrett to the Pirates family.
Ed Gurka began coaching at Packanack in 1977 and has now influenced several generations of Packanack Lake swimmers! The 2025 season will be Coach Ed's 49th year!
He is the William Paterson University Head Dive and Swim Coach, where he reached over 700 victories in 2016. Coach Ed coached the first sprinter in NCAA History to win the 50m, 100m, and 200m Freestyle during one National Championship Swim Meet.
